Nico
Veterinary Assistant
Nico Wegner joined Knoll Animal Hospital in August 2025 as a veterinary assistant, bringing with him a deep commitment to helping pets live long, healthy, and happy lives. His path to veterinary medicine began during his undergraduate years, when he eagerly reached out to clinics across Indianapolis to gain hands-on experience. Those early opportunities gave him a strong foundation in patient care, but more importantly, they showed him how patience and compassion can transform even the most challenging situations.
One moment that stands out in Nico's journey involved a dog so terrified that no one could approach without being bitten or snapped at. Nico chose to spend his breaks and free time reassuring the frightened pup and building trust. Day after day, he sat by quietly letting the dog adjust to his presence. For Nico, that experience reinforced that veterinary care is about more than medicine — it's about creating compassion, understanding, and trust.
At Knoll, Nico brings that same steady dedication to every patient he meets. He enjoys assisting with exams, ensuring pets receive attentive medical care, while also focusing on their comfort and emotional well-being. He supports the veterinarians during procedures, helps maintain accurate patient records, and makes sure families feel informed and supported through each stage of care. His approachable manner and calm presence are especially valuable when working with nervous pets or first-time pet owners.
For Nico, each day in the clinic is an opportunity to strengthen the bond between people and their pets. By combining medical support with genuine care, he strives to make a meaningful difference in the lives of animals and the families who love them — and to uphold the compassionate standard of care that Knoll Animal Hospital is known for.
