Annjolyn Knoll
Owner, Veterinarian
DVM
Hi, my name is Dr. Knoll, and I am a veterinarian and the owner and director of our practice. I am passionate about delivering exceptional care and empowering the people around me — whether clients, staff, or students — to share in that same passion for animal health.
Personal Hobbies and Interests
Outside of work, I love spending time with my kids, going on vacations, and exploring new places I have never been. I also enjoy caring for my animals at home — I have four dogs named Howard, Ember, Pinocchio, and Geppetto, and four chickens named Ellie, Brownie, Duck, and Smokey, who were named by my daughter.
Favorite Part of My Job
I truly love the ownership side of running a practice and the opportunity it gives me to educate clients. Making people genuinely passionate about animal care — whether they are employees, clients, or students — is something that brings me a lot of joy and purpose.
Why I Chose This Profession
I have always had a passion for veterinary medicine — it is something that has been with me for as long as I can remember. That lifelong drive is what led me to pursue this career and, ultimately, to build a practice of my own.
Education
I graduated from Glenbard East High School in 2003 before going on to Elmhurst College, where I studied biology and chemistry and graduated in 2007. I then attended St. George's University, earning my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2012, and completed my clinical year at the University of Illinois.
Professional Background
I have spent my entire career in private practice. After graduating, I worked for three years at a veterinary hospital in Lombard — my hometown — before taking the leap to open my own practice in 2015. Owning and leading a practice has been one of the most fulfilling decisions of my career.
I have a deep interest in practice ownership and client education. One of the things I find most meaningful is inspiring passion for animal care in everyone I work with — whether that is a client learning how to better care for their pet, an employee growing in their role, or a student just starting out in the field.
Memberships
I am a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), the Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association (ISVMA), and I am Fear Free certified — an approach I am proud to incorporate into the care we provide every day.
Work History
After graduating, I spent three years in private practice in Lombard before making the decision to open my own practice. I founded Knoll Animal Hospital in 2015, and it has been one of the most fulfilling chapters of my career.
